School/Craft Supply Organization

It's Back to School time!  Time to buy all those new school supplies.  Do you buy extras to have some at home for homework or to give your kid's teacher for the students who couldn't afford supplies?  Do you have all used supplies that came home at the end of the school year or were left over from previous school projects or you needed for scouts or class parties or Sunday School?  I did.  I do. So several years ago I set up a system to corral all of the extra school stuff and craft supplies we had lying around. All of the lower cabinets in my kitchen (except for under the sink) are drawers.  I planned it that way when we built our house, and I love it.  So when setting this system up, I decided to dedicate one of these drawers to house all the stuff.  Then I sorted all the stuff into categories, counted my categories, and headed to Wal-Mart to buy a bunch of pencil boxes. This system has worked marvelously over the years and continues to.  In fact, my college-aged daughter

Fall Cleaning & Holiday Prep Schedule 2022

The Clean House Calendar Fall Cleaning and Holiday Prep Plan starts the week of July 18th.   Starting Tuesday, July 19 the task list for Tuesday in the Clean House Calendar Planner will list an area to be cleaned and organized or an activity to complete to prep for the holidays.  All of these tasks are assigned to Tuesday, however, some of these tasks will take more than one day to complete.  I thought it would be nice to have a full schedule of these tasks in one location hence the Fall Cleaning & Holiday Prep Schedule was born.  You can download the Fall 2022 version here .  Follow the same printing directions as my last post . Remember, these documents are not written in stone.  Make them work for you.  If you have a room that's not listed, find a good place and put it in the schedule.  Don't have a room listed?  Yay, free week!  Still too hot to clean the garage in September?  Move areas around. I hope you find the schedule beneficial.  B.

Introducing the New Clean House Calendar Planner

Good Morning!   My name is Britia, it's pronounced like the water filter. I live in southwest Missouri with my husband of 25 years.  We have one college-aged daughter and a sassy yellow lab.  I'm a retired middle school math teacher, a beginning gardener, and I'm recovering from breast cancer.  Finally, I'm kind of a neat nick but, confession time, I have messy closets and cabinets.  As a new mom, I struggled with caring for my daughter and managing our home and I realized I needed a plan to get my housework done, food on the table, and care for myself and my family.  I did a little research and came across FlyLady.  She had a simple plan I thought I could follow.  As I worked through her plan I realized I needed to tweak it a bit to better meet my needs.  As the years went on I tweaked, then I tweaked some more, then I tweaked a little more and finally, I created The Clean House Calendar, a planner to get my home clean and organized. I started this blog several years
