January 2024 Sketch and Tic Tac Toe Challenge Entry

It's been a few months since I participated in the Sketch Challenge over on Rochelle Spears's Blog and the Tic Tac Toe Challenge at the Scrap with Stacy Blog .  But I want to scrap more in 2024, so I decided to use these challenges to kick-start the year. Here is my entry for January. For the Tic Tac Toes Challenge, I used Numbers, Tags, and 2 Photos, horizontally across the middle. I would like to tell you where all my supplies are from, but, to be honest, I don't know.  All the supplies I used for this layout were either from my stash or in my scrap pile.  I know the little red Mickey Mouse squares were from a swap I participated in back in 2002!!! Enjoy, B.

Media/Game Closet

Back in 2006, when we were building our home, we converted one of our linen closets into a media closet.  This is where we stored our cable box/DVR, DVD player, and all of our DVDs.  Then, my husband ran the cables from these devices through the attic to our TV above the fireplace.  It was marvelous not having to look at all those cords.  They are the bane of my existence.  Once these items had a home, a few shelves were left, so I decided this would be the home of all our games.  Thus, the Media/Game closet was born. Fast forward to 2024, and we no longer have a cable box, a DVD Player, or even a TV.  So now it's just a game closet. You may not have a game closet.  But I bet you have games stored somewhere in your home.  This week is the week to clean and organize that area.   Below, I'm including my Media/Game Closet cleaning checklist.  If you would like a copy, simply click on the image, and you can download it. Enjoy, B.

Coat Closet/Mud Room

Over the cold, snowy weekend, I lost focus on getting a blog post out and instead scrapbooked.  So, I'm a little late getting this post up.  But better late than never.  This week, the Clean House Calendar's cleaning task is the Entry/Mudroom.  Here is a cleaning checklist to help you get your entry/mudroom cleaned and organized without getting overwhelmed.  Click on the checklist below to download your copy. Enjoy, B.

The Linen Closet

This week, the Clean House Calendar's cleaning task is the linen closet.  Here is a cleaning checklist to help you get your linen closets cleaned and organized without getting overwhelmed.  Click on the checklist below to download your copy. Enjoy, B.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2024!  Welcome to the Clean House Calendar!  I'm Britia (pronounced Brita, like the water filter.)  And this is my little home on the internet. Have y'all ever picked a 'Word of the Year' or participated in the 'One Little Word' challenge?  class?  I decided this year I would pick a 'Word of the Year.'  A word that will focus and guide my goals for the year.  My "Word of the Year' is FAITH.   Matthew 17:20 says, “ You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a  mustard   seed , you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” NLT   Then Hebrews 11:1 says, " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."   KJV    Dictionary.com defines faith as " confidence or trust in a person or thing or  belief that is not based on proof."   Marti...

The Fall Cleaning Schedule Starts Today!

Vacuum and mop floors. Empty trash bins. Take any donations to the car. Friday: Add any tasks or projects that need doing to my Trello...

The Clean House Calendar Fall Cleaning Schedule starts July 18, and I want everyone to be able to participate, so I'm giving away the following: 1.  The Clean House Calendar Monthly Calendar for Q3 & Q4 2.  The Clean House Calendar Weekly Calendar for Q3 & Q4 3.  The Clean House Calendar Daily Planner for Q3 & Q4 You can download one or all three.  You pick the one that works best for you. I know, I know, July 18 is the middle of summer.  There is no fall about it.  But in order to get our homes cleaned, organized, and ready for the holidays, we have to start in July.  The Clean House Calendar Fall Cleaning Schedule focuses on deep cleaning one area of our home each week while maintaining the other areas.  Once November rolls around, we focus on holiday preparations.  And then, in January, we begin the Spring Cleaning Schedule. Please join me by downloading and printing a calendar or planner above and participating in Fall Clea...
So back in 2016, I introduced the Super Summer Spiff Up.  It didn't go much of anywhere because, let's face it, I'm not a good blogger.  But I keep trying.  So today is a new day, and I will try again.  Yesterday I sat down and created a calendar for the month of June with projects I want to complete.  Here it is: I'm sure you don't need to complete the same projects as me, but if you want to download my calendar, you can do that here .  I also have a blank calendar that you can fill in with the projects you would like to complete in June.  You can download it here . I will only have a June Super Summer Spiff Up calendar because the Clean House Calendar Fall Cleaning Schedule starts July 18.  I should have Clean House Calendars ready to purchase by the last week in June. I don't know if they will be in my Etsy or TPT store.  I will let you know soon.  Enjoy, B.

Scrappin' Again

A few days ago, I came across Shannon Allor's YouTube channel, She's Crafty .  In one of her recent videos, she created a layout using a sketch from Rochelle Spears's April 2023 Sketch Challenge and Scrap with Stacy's April 2023 Tic Tac Toe Challenge .  Both of these challenges are open to anyone to participate, and since I'm finally scrapbooking again after retiring, I decided to play along.   I am a two-page scrapbooker, so I needed to modify the sketch a bit, but I think I did okay.   I went diagonally for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge using a circle, a banner piece, and brads. Enjoy, B.

Media/Game Closet Cleaning Checklist

The spring cleaning task for this week is the media/game closet. When we built our house, we ran wires from a small linen closet to the wall above our fireplace, where we placed our TV.  That way, the cable box, the DVD player, and all the required wires were hidden.  At that time, we stored all of our media equipment, DVDs, and board games in that closet.  Over the years, our media needs have changed, and there is no longer any equipment in the closet, but we still store DVDs (yes, we still have those) and our board games in that closet. As you know, the Clean House Calendar is based on what I needed to keep my own house clean and organized. Therefore, I needed to include the media/game closet in my cleaning schedule.  You may not have such a closet, but I'm sure you have an area or two where you store your media (vinyl, DVDs, 3D glasses, games systems, and accessories) and your board games and puzzles.  Those areas are what we are focused on this week....

Entry/Mudroom Cleaning Checklist

Photo by Douglas Sheppard on Unsplash The spring cleaning task for this week is the entry/mudroom.  For me, this includes the front entry foyer, where I have an entryway chest of drawers, our coat closet, and part of our laundry room.   When I created the Entry/Mudroom Cleaning Checklist, I was envisioning an area similar to the photo above, but I feel like the checklist could also be used for areas like my entryway chest of drawers and a coat closet. Click on the checklist to download.  Enjoy!  B.

Spring Cleaning Checklists

Today's spring cleaning task is 'Clean and organize the linen closets'.  So I thought I would share my checklist to help you complete the task. I designed it to print, hole punch, and place in your planner or your Family or Household binder.   Click on the checklist to download. Because I was recovering from having Covid over the holidays, I didn't get the laundry room checklist shared with you.  So here it is as well.  Again click on the checklist to download. Have a great day!  B. Image by Freepik

School/Craft Supply Organization

It's Back to School time!  Time to buy all those new school supplies.  Do you buy extras to have some at home for homework or to give your kid's teacher for the students who couldn't afford supplies?  Do you have all used supplies that came home at the end of the school year or were left over from previous school projects or you needed for scouts or class parties or Sunday School?  I did.  I do. So several years ago I set up a system to corral all of the extra school stuff and craft supplies we had lying around. All of the lower cabinets in my kitchen (except for under the sink) are drawers.  I planned it that way when we built our house, and I love it.  So when setting this system up, I decided to dedicate one of these drawers to house all the stuff.  Then I sorted all the stuff into categories, counted my categories, and headed to Wal-Mart to buy a bunch of pencil boxes. This system has worked marvelously over the years and continues to.  I...

Fall Cleaning & Holiday Prep Schedule 2022

The Clean House Calendar Fall Cleaning and Holiday Prep Plan starts the week of July 18th.   Starting Tuesday, July 19 the task list for Tuesday in the Clean House Calendar Planner will list an area to be cleaned and organized or an activity to complete to prep for the holidays.  All of these tasks are assigned to Tuesday, however, some of these tasks will take more than one day to complete.  I thought it would be nice to have a full schedule of these tasks in one location hence the Fall Cleaning & Holiday Prep Schedule was born.  You can download the Fall 2022 version here .  Follow the same printing directions as my last post . Remember, these documents are not written in stone.  Make them work for you.  If you have a room that's not listed, find a good place and put it in the schedule.  Don't have a room listed?  Yay, free week!  Still too hot to clean the garage in September?  Move areas around. I hope you find the sch...

Introducing the New Clean House Calendar Planner

Good Morning!   My name is Britia, it's pronounced like the water filter. I live in southwest Missouri with my husband of 25 years.  We have one college-aged daughter and a sassy yellow lab.  I'm a retired middle school math teacher, a beginning gardener, and I'm recovering from breast cancer.  Finally, I'm kind of a neat nick but, confession time, I have messy closets and cabinets.  As a new mom, I struggled with caring for my daughter and managing our home and I realized I needed a plan to get my housework done, food on the table, and care for myself and my family.  I did a little research and came across FlyLady.  She had a simple plan I thought I could follow.  As I worked through her plan I realized I needed to tweak it a bit to better meet my needs.  As the years went on I tweaked, then I tweaked some more, then I tweaked a little more and finally, I created The Clean House Calendar, a planner to get my home clean and organiz...
